How do we acknowledge that we struggle with our own minds?


We meet directors, managers, supervisors and employees that are struggling with their own mental health without being aware of it and from the outside World - these men and women seem on top of the World and that nothing phases them.


It's actually very difficult to admit to others, let alone yourself that you're struggling with your own mind. A broken bone is easily diagnosed, but how we do diagnose mental health difficulties?


Mental health - is an umbrella for many struggles...the easier illnesses to diagnose are people suffering with severe depression, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, anxiety, OCD.

But how do we diagnose what a lot would consider as 'lesser' mental health issues, but in your own mind its a torment from the moment you wake to the moment you fall asleep.


The incessant over thinking, imposter syndrome, stress - a lot of people are unaware they're suffering until they come through the other side. It's hard to admit, especially within the male population who tend to not talk as much about their feelings from childhood. Boys were conditioned not to cry by their parents. That it was a form of weakness...in actual fact expressing emotion is part of being a human being, just like the need to eat & drink.


All that suppressed emotion building up. Consider the analogy of blowing up a balloon - at some point it will pop. Unfortunately when it comes to our mind it can pop into severe mental health problems.


So let's start deflating that balloon, in a slow and controlled way by training our minds and helping them heal.


How do you spot mental illness;

*Your brain being in overdrive. You can't stop 'thinking' like several people surrounding you and blabbering at you - all day/everyday. *The loss of 'presence' where, or the realisation you aren't 'present' in situations where you wish you were. *Eating more or less than normal. *Not sleeping properly (or wanting to sleep all the time) *Poor memory or forgetfulness. *Excessive drinking and/or drug use. *Feeling really tired and lacking in energy.
